Nestling at the foot of the Langeberg Mountains, Swellendam has much to offer visitors who have an interest in history, nature and outdoor activities. Situated on the N2, approximately 240km from both Cape Town and George, Swellendam is the perfect choice for a halfway stopover or as a base from which to explore the area.

De Wagenhuis - De Wagenhuis sleeps 14 people in seven luxurious rooms. We have a large swimming pool and outside relaxation area. The country guest house is on a working farm producing export citrus and milk, we also have some blackberries (December) and olives. Walks around the farm are a must.

Jan Harmsgat Country House - You are invited to relax in our exclusive country bed and breakfast guest house accommodation on an historic farm, (established in 1723) in the beautiful Klein Karoo. Jan Harmsgat Guest Farm is situated between the towns of Swellendam on the N2 and Ashton on the R62. The guest house is a 2 hour drive from Cape Town, on a working farm in the scenic Klein Karoo winelands region of South Africa. The towns of Robertson, Montagu, and McGregor are within close proximity and Cape Agulhas (the southern tip of Africa) is an easy hours drive away.

Klippe Rivier Country House - Downstairs, three spacious bedrooms each have an open fireplace, dressing room and generous en-suite bathroom with separate shower and toilet. Three loft rooms upstairs are under thatch, offer mountain views and have private balconies. A secluded cottage is for the more romantic, with its own fireplace and private garden. All bedrooms are air-conditioned.

Alternatively stay in one of the Self Catering units onboard the newly renovated �Breede River Queen' Houseboat. The hand drawn pontoon which started operating in 1860 is still going strong today and this is a major attraction in the area - and is today still displayed on our logo.

Old Mill Guest House - originally used as a watermill, has been lovingly renovated to offer a comfortable Cape style Guest House with Restaurant in a National Monument. Just off the N2 close to the Ashton road the Old Mill has private guest parking, individually decorated cottages each have private entrance, set in a mature garden. It is easy to relax here; the welcome is warm, the smiles genuine and the style casual.

Purper Winde - Here, in the third oldest town in South Africa, you will find Purper Winde on the banks of the Koornlands River, with magnificent views of the exquisite Langeberg Mountains with sounds of the river meandering through the wooded garden and waterfalls. Indulge in leisurely river walks or simply watch as guinea fowl, buck and occasionally baboons forage through Ericas and natural Fynbos.

Roosje Van De Kaap - At the top of Swellendam's main road, Voortrekker Street, you see the crown jewel of the towns' legendary, beautiful buildings: a breathtaking, perfectly maintained Georgian home. As you continue you enter the core of the most historic of the Western Cape towns: The Drostdy Complex, once the seat of an independent republic. Behind the Drostdy Ilzebet Oosthuizen own and run a small hotel with the magical name of Roosje van de Kaap.

Rothman Manor - Relax while you enjoy the private atmosphere of one of the largest historic estates in Swellendam. The estate with its 3.5 hectares comprise accommodation in two seperate guest houses and the Manor with its public areas.
