Swellendam forms part of the Cape-Overberg meander. Overberg means "over the mountain" The journey to the "Overberg" three centuries ago was a bone crunching one by wagon - but well worth it for the hospitality and warmth you received from the people of the Overberg. It is truly a haven of peace & tranquility.
