Sugarbird Manor is situated on the farm Protea Heights. In 1975, Frank Cecil Batchelor donated Protea Heights to WWF (then the South African Nature Foundation). For the next 32 years, WWF respected the donor's wishes and continued to commercially farm proteaceae.
In 2008, WWF celebrates its 40 th anniversary in South Africa. Over the past four decades we have had considerable success in focusing on our core mandate; namely the conservation of South Africa's biodiversity. WWF South Africa specifically focuses on the conservation of sensitive marine, freshwater and terrestrial ecosystems, the conservation of endangered species and combating climate change.
