Zomerlust Gastehuis Paarl Guest house accommodation rooms

Zomerlust Gastehuis

~ Paarl ~ Western Cape ~ South Africa ~

In the breathtaking Paarl valley everything has a history and no one more than the well known family of Abraham Pieter de Villiers. They have been important role players in this history ever since their first French Huguenot ancestor arrived in 1685.

Zomerlust has close ties with the history of the Paarl Rock Brandy Cellar, since the latter was founded by Abraham Pieter de Villiers in 1856. The original Paarl Wine and Brandy Company was situated across the road from the Zomerlust guest house and legend has it that an underground pipe linked the maturation casks in the cellar to a tap, where guests were entertained in grand style. Today this area has been restored into a cosy pub, Die Kraan. Accustomed to entertaining in grand style, the family could offer their own finely matured connoisseur brandy to their guest simply at the turn of a tap !

Today this unique Manor House, is beautifully restored as a guest house, comprising of upmarket accommodation with personalised service.
